Series is the largest series of 5K runs/fitness walks in the world.

More than one million participants have raised more than $136 million

Other information about the Komen Massachusetts Race for the Cure:
The Komen Massachusetts Race for the Cure is put on by the Komen Massachusetts
Affiliate, a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization, operating with the
assistance of hundreds of volunteers and one paid staff member.
Up to 75% of our net proceeds are awarded through a grant process each
year to local organizations. In fiscal year 2006, over $500,000 was awarded
in grants. Each grantee conducts a program that offers breast cancer
education, screening or treatment to Massachusetts residents. The
remaining 25% is directed to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation
National Grant Program to fund research on a national and international
level.
Companies sponsor the Komen Massachusetts Race for the Cure on the national or local level to:
- Generate community goodwill
- Enhance employee relations
- Build equity in brand names or corporate identities
- Increase sales at retail outlets
The Komen Massachusetts Race is more than a race for runners or fitness
walkers. It is an opportunity for people of all ages and abilities to
honor a loved one who has lost the battle with breast cancer, to show
support of someone winning the battle now or to help raise funds to
fight the disease.
