The Komen Massachusetts Affiliate Sponsorship Overview
On September 23, 2007, thousands of runners and walkers will participate in
the fifteenth annual Massachusetts Race for the Cure® in support of the Susan G. Komen
for the Cure®. Each year thousands have joined us in taking that step of faith,
each bringing us closer to a cure. The dollars raised by the Race provide funding for
research, education, screening and treatment for the under and uninsured
throughout Massachusetts. In addition, the Massachusetts Race for the Cure® is
committed to educating the public about the importance of early detection, the
strongest method of surviving this life-threatening disease.
We applaud your interest in joining in the fight against breast cancer by
becoming a sponsor of this year's Massachusetts Race for the Cure®. If you are a returning
sponsor, we thank you. For those who may be joining us for the first time, we promise
it will be an experience not to be forgotten. Your decision to make a difference will
result in assisting the men and women of our communities. It may also affect someone
in your life.

2007 Race Sponsors >>
Our goal is to underwrite Race expenses through both cash and in-kind contributions. Monetary donations not only cover the expenses of holding the Race, but also are used to award grants to local organizations to fund breast cancer screening, treatment, and educational programs. Opportunities exist at various sponsorship levels, with increasing benefits for your organization at each increment.

In-Kind and Underwriting Opportunities
Your organization may chose to participate by taking advantage of underwriting opportunities. The Race accepts in-kind goods and services on a case-by-case basis. For purposes of sponsorship levels, in-kind donations are considered at one-half of their monetary value. For purposes of tax deductions, in-kind donations are valued at the cost of the item as determined by the donor.
How To Become A Sponsor
Pick a sponsorship level that offers the benefits and visibility you prefer. Sponsorship can be strictly cash or a combination of cash and in-kind services. Our goal is to underwrite Race expenses through both cash and in-kind contributions. This ensures that more money can go into the fight against breast cancer. Last year, the Komen Massachusetts Race for the Cure® held administrative expenses to under 25% with the help of our corporate sponsors. We are happy to meet with you in person to discover the best sponsorship package for your company and the Race.
Other Ways to Get Involved
FORM A TEAM:
Teams consist of 10 or more people who pre-register online for the
Race. Teams can compete for several awards, and team members are
eligible to win individual awards. More than 50% of all Race participants in
2006 were members of a Team. Teams may be comprised of families, friends, and co-workers.
CORPORATE MATCHING PROGRAM:
Some employers may choose to pay for all or
a portion of their employees' entry fee, others create additional giving
opportunities by matching employees' entry fee or Friends for the Cure®
Donation program. This is a great way to show your corporation's
commitment in the fight against breast cancer.
VOLUNTEERS:
As a non-profit organization, the Komen Massachusetts Race for the
Cure® depends on the kindness and dedication of volunteers to make the
Race a success.
Sponsorships should be in cash. In some cases, a combination of cash and in-kind may be considered for sponsorship. All in-kind sponsorship donations must be approved by the Race Board. An early commitment and signed Race contract will ensure exposure to all pre-Race events and inclusion in printed advertising and appropriate collateral materials.
